Stories with roots.
The Rootline Review is an independent culture publication covering Black spiritual creators, folk tradition, and community builders.
A culture publication, with purpose.
Our editorial focus is the people, practices, and shared spaces that shape cultural life. Creator Profiles centers individual perspectives. Culture & Tradition examines inherited knowledge and its contemporary context. Community looks at the platforms and organizations bringing people together.
A distinct editorial identity.
The Rootline Review is a separate publication, not a section of Mother Spells. Coverage of Mother Spells or The Circle will identify relevant ownership, financial, or personal relationships before publication.
Our standards
We use gender-neutral language, verify factual claims, and attribute quotations to real sources. We do not invent interviews, credentials, or publication history. Corrections and substantive updates will be identified on the relevant article.
The archive
Archive submissions retain a clear distinction between a claimed original date, a verified original publication, and the date of republication here. Current submissions remain unpublished while original records and permissions are reviewed.
